final historical thinking unit

Final Historical Thinking unit

How do historians read historical documents?

historians read historical documents by: first deciding if something is a primary source or a secondary source, second jot down notes while reading through and putting summary's after every paragraph or so, and third decide if the document is true by using bias which is pretty much using multiple documents to tell if something is true or not.

How do historians write history?

Historians write history by telling there point of view of what happened from what they think is true or what they want to make other people think is true.

D and R Test Reflection

D and R Test Reflection
I got all my correct answers from my notes and pages from the unit packet. since i got a pretty good grade i will keep doing what i am doing. However, i did the same things with the incorrect answers from the notes too.
I got my incorrect answers from screen casts and some notes. Since I got a pretty good grade with the notes i will keep using that but i will stop using the screen casts. I will only use some of my notes since it helped my grade and made it worse.
For the questions that I got a 3 or higher on, I used my notes to answer them. In future history short answer tests I will still review over the notes before I take the tests. only thing bad about using my notes is that i did get some questions answered incorrectly by using them, so i probably wont use all of them.
I used my notes on the questions i did poorly on as well as the questions that i did good on. since it was good and bad to use the notes i might keep using my notes. There is a small chance that i wont use them, a small one.

The crew in The Odyssey should not have revolted because of the bad conditions they faced.  The men volunteered for a mission.  They should have known there were risks in any mission.  While Locke believed in people’s right to revolution, the crew should follow orders like people in the army.  Until they reached Ithaca the crew was obligated to follow Odysseus.

This part of my paper is the thesis.

I am proud of this section of my paper because I pretty much summarized the whole paper in one small paragraph. I also used the word obligated which is a pretty intelligent word to me. I remembered to underline and capitalize The Odyssey.

My entire paper can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=19Wfpv9AwDVTMLaHfpf0pAl51yG_qazQHVW9vpGOZWIE

What i planned in-class was the thesis and what my claim should be and that helped me because i was actually progressing my paper. The planning that i did out of class was, pretty much, everything else which helped because without all of that i would only have a thesis.

What i will keep the same for the humanities in-class final is probably the thesis. Since it is the best part of the entire paper.
For the humanities final i will change the evidence that supports the claim for all the body paragraphs, because i don't think those were very good. I will also add a conclusion because that might help my grade out a little. The final might require a conclusion to it unlike the humanities paper.

How do i like to learn?

I like to learn while listening to music

Do I like history?

I didn't like history at the start of school

What does a history class look like to me?

History class looks like people sleeping on top of books

My Thoughts (9/19/12)

History are events that already happened in the past so i pretty much was right on the definition and now i have a better understanding on history so i can work a whole lot better on it.
But now i like history because we do awesome projects like the Zombie Apocalypse project ( best project ever made) and the bad presentation project (second best project ever made), because we do a lot more work on computers, because we learned how to use bias and how to think like a historian, and because we don't really do much work (except for the awesome projects i talked about before)
i still like to learn while listening to music, preferably metal, dub step, and jazz, and history class still looks like people sleeping on books to me, but at least i like history class now and have a better definition / understanding of history.
